General Information
The Job Service has the assignment of helping students in Freiburg find
short and long-term employment.
The Studentenwerk acts only as a go-between. Students enter contract
partnerships directly with their respective employer. The amount of pay
is determined solely by the contract partners. The Studentenwerk does
not determine pay guidelines or set a minimum rate. The Studentenwerk
has no legal means of demanding minimum rates for assignments which
students have accepted.
Who is entitled to the Job Service?
The Job Service is open to all students matriculated at one of the
institutes of higher learning for which Studentenwerk Freiburg is
responsible. These include:
- die Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg
- die Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg
- die Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg
- die Katholische Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen und Religionspädagogik
Freiburg
- die Evangelische Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen, Religionspädagogik
und Gemeindediakonie - Freiburg
- die Fachhochschule Offenburg
- die Fachhochschule Furtwangen
- die Fachhochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Kehl
- die Berufsakademie Villingen-Schwenningen
- die Jazz- und Rockschule Freiburg

- and other private institutions which have made cooperation agreements
with the Studentenwerk
The Job Service Process
First you must fill out the application with your personal data. You may
either do this at the Internet Portal in the waiting room of the
Studentenwerk or at home on your own pc. You may then pick up your „Job
ID“ in the Infoladen by showing your student ID and passport of
necessary. Your information is protected under the data protection
regulations.
Office hours of the Job Service: Monday – Friday from 8.00 until 17.00.
The job offerings are available in the waiting room. All the necessary
information about each job is printed on cards which hang in the walls.
The yellow cards designate short-term jobs (less than seven days), the
yellow cards with a red dot indicate longer-term jobs (longer than seven
days), and the white cards designate internships. Our job offerings are
also available online at www.studentenwerk.uni-freiburg.de; you can
apply online as well. We will then email you the address of the employer
as quickly as possible.
In order to serve as many students as possible, we principally give out
no more than two job offers at a time. As soon as you have informed us
of whether or not you have received a job, you may take two more
addresses if necessary. For this reason we ask that you please return to
us as soon as possible the job offers you do not accept. Job offers may
not be passed on to another person. Failure to follow these guidelines
can result in your being excluded from further use of the service.
Because we must keep statistics on the number of jobs administered, we
urge you always to inform us of the success or failure of your attempts-
by telephone, email, or in person. Again, failure to follow this
guideline can result in exclusion from the service.
Labor and Immmigration Law Guidelines
The following documents are necessary to administer you a job:
Students from Germany and the EG states:
Personal Identification Card and valid Student Identification Card or
Unicard (students from the new EU- member states need a residence permit
or a „Freizügigkeitsbescheinigung“).
Students from non-EG- and non-EWR. states
Passport with valid residence permit and work permit as well as a valid
Student Identification Card or Unicard.
We therefore ask that you present your valid Student ID/Unicard at the
beginning of each semester or that you enter the date of extension
yourself in the application form. When your residence permit expires we
ask that you present your passport with the extension.
Questions About Insurance
All students are legally required to pay social security. The employers
are responsible for determining whether the conditions are met in
particular cases. Students are therefore required to supply all the
information required for determining social security deductions.
Exclusion from Service
Students can be excluded from the Job Service if they repeatedly fail to
adhere to the guidelines set forth here.
